How to Cook Beef Pares

Ingredients:

1 cup beef brisket, cut into serving pcs
1 tbsp garlic, minced
¼ cup onion, chopped
¼ cup ginger, julienned
¼ cup onion leeks, cut into 1” pcs
2 pcs star anise
1 pc laurel leaf
1 tsp whole peppercorns
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp salt
½ cup soy sauce
1 cup water
Cooking oil

Procedures:

1. Heat about 2 tbsp cooking oil in a pan. Add the ginger, garlic, and onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
2. Mix in the laurel leaf and whole peppercorns.
3. Add the beef. Cook until meat turns light brown.
4. Add the star anise, ground pepper, salt, onion leeks, sugar, water, and soy sauce. Mix well. Simmer on low heat for 1 hour or more or until the sauce thickens and the meat is tender.
5. Serve with rice.
